Birchen Edge Nelsons Monument

A favourite sunset location for me in the Peak District National Park is the distinctive gritstone monument to Lord Nelson, erected in 1810, which stands proud on Birchen Edge. I arrived and it looked as though weather conditions were going to be favorable and the best light of the evening was just as i reached the obelisk. A quick setup and a series of exposures resulted in this lovely image, with its rich contrasts and shadows. Very evocative of a typical summers evening of photography in the Peak District near Baslow.
